
HIARA

HIARA is a jazz vocalist and composer born in Porto, Portugal that blends Jazz with her Portuguese roots. She began her path in Porto in Academia de Música Valentim de Carvalho, where she studied voice and harp. In 2019, she was selected as one of the performers for the Abingdon Summer School for solo singers in England, in which she studied with Professors such as Christine Cairns and Margaret Humphrey Clark. In 2022, she was awarded a merit-based scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, in the United States. In 2024, she was selected as a member of the Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice at Berklee, which gave her the opportunity to study with artists such as Farayi Malek. In the same year, she represented Portugal in the 38th International Folk Festival in Boston. In 2025, she was awarded the Division Achievement Award by the Voice Department in Berklee College of Music. and graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Music in Professional Music. In the same year, she represented Portugal in Expo 2025 in Japan, singing the national anthem.
